Door Industry Journal - Spring 2013

spring 2013 THE door industry journal It’s a year now since it became compulsory for all Door & Hardware Federation members to meet the Quality Assured standards. Introduced originally as minimum technical standards, the scheme was designed to ensure that all new members joining the DHF met the same high standards as existing members. In preparation for becoming a marketing tool that members and the DHF could use to give them the commercial edge over non member competitors, the scheme was rebranded as DHF Quality Assured. Over the past year, Don Sowley has been helping manufacturing members of the DHF needing assistance in achieving audited factory production control as part of the Quality Assured process. DHF members are now well aware of what they must do to become Quality Assured. So please ensure you have done everything you need to do. Make sure you complete and sign your Declaration of Conformity form, which will be arriving with you shortly, and return it to Tamworth. A minority of members have signed the form despite the fact that they have yet to achieve third party factory production control accreditation. Beware, a spot check will reveal this, and your continuing membership of the DHF - and the benefits that brings - could be in jeopardy. If you need any help, please don’t hesitate in contacting us at Tamworth. Full compliance with the DHF Quality Assured standards is vital. Don’t forget, the standards were tailored to the particular needs of the members in the individual focus groups. This means you will be able to use the Quality Assured standards to enhance the product and service offering you give to your customers. The cornerstone of the DHF forward plan is to deliver commercial benefit to members by raising standards. The successful rollout of the Quality Assured scheme will help give you, the members, a marketing edge over the competition all the sooner.
