DEEPEST, STEEPEST, HIGHEST, HARDEST Jim Rodger, AKA the Teckentrup Flyer, infamous for his exploits firstly on a bike, covering John O’Groats to Land’s End, then ascending La Marmotte and last year adding swimming and running to complete the Bolton Ironman challenge, has a new objective. Jim likes to set a challenge for himself in the hope that it will inspire you to sponsor, donate, whatever you want to call it, to the magnificent Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. All the funds raised each year go straight to Alder Hey (no deductions for expenses or any of that nonsense). This year, on the 29th of September, Jim has entered the worlds hardest half Iron Triathlon at Wasdale in the Lake District. Look out for more on the Door Industry Journal blog, but as a taster, the event takes in the UK’s coldest and deepest lake for the swim, the UK’s steepest pass for the cycling (1 in 4 average gradient, with 1 in 3 sections) and the UK’s highest climb in an event ~ 4,500 feet over Scafell Pike, Foxes Ghyll and Scafell. If you’d like to donate, look out for Jim’s JustGiving page - Call on 01925 924050 or email jim@teckentrupdepot.co.uk for details.
