DOPPELGÄNGER Have you ever had the feeling of Déjà vu, of life running on parallel lines or even a missing twin? Stephen Hawking and his kin prophesise the possibility that in the infinity of the cosmos, statistically speaking, we all have a “double” leading an identical life with other doubles taking different routes with different outcomes. If only we could meet them, what could we learn? So, how would you react if your Doppelgänger didn’t come from the other side of the Universe, but from this galaxy, in this solar system, in fact from planet Earth… or to be precise, from Australia - wouldn’t that be really bizarre? Anyway, let’s get to the point... Whilst having their website updated Oxley Garage Doors’ director Chris Oxley was asked by their web designers if Oxley’s had a branch in Australia. “We do travel around a bit but Australia is a little too far, why?” Chris replied. It would appear that wh ilst typing Oxley’s web address www.oxleydoors.co.uk they had mistyped with an additional “s” oxleysdoors and inadvertently logged into a Doppelgänger in Australia. Curiosity getting the better of them, further investigation revealed that not only was the website address uncannily similar, it would appear there was another Oxley Garage Doors in Mildura, Australia not only installing garage doors, but also automatic gates and industrial doors. Even their logo was eerily similar in a bold Arial type. Spooky! An email through their contact button to say Hi revealed the owner was also one Chris Oxley who replied 12 hours later with... “I don’t suppose your middle name is John??” “errr yes it is!” replied Chris Oxley (1). So, there is a Christopher John Oxley (1) and Oxley Garage Doors in England installing garage doors, gates and industrial doors and a Christopher John Oxley (2) and Oxley Garage Doors installing garage doors, gates and industrial doors in Australia with no relational connection. Ain’t life funny? The best part is Chris Oxley (2) has a holiday home in Bali… Now, come to think of it, these Doppelgängers aren’t all bad!
