The Group now has operations in 3 continents Australia, North America and Europe and includes a total of 13 companies. AM Group Headquarters is still based in Sydney, Australia. More recent acquisitions included Rivers Locking Systems (1995), Lietzke Doors (1996), Korab Industries (1998), Steel Frame Windows (2000), Western Ventilation Equipment (2001), National Roller Shutters (2002) and Ansa Doors (2004). Dover Vanguard is a Manchester based premium quality manufacturer of a comprehensive range of aluminium roller shutters and door products in the UK for architectural and truck door applications. “Terry, Martin, Eamonn Nolan (General Manager at Dover Vanguard) and I agree this is a positive step for the AM Group in the UK and provides opportunities for IDE, Nassau and Dover Vanguard businesses to leverage off each other’s strengths.” said Owen Wiseman. “The Nassau business will operate in a consistent manner under Terry Salmon’s continuing leadership”. 22 THE door industry journal spring 2014 AWARD WINNING LIGHT GRILLE NOW FOR SECTIONAL DOORS Hörmann’s safety award winning Light Grille, non-contact safety device, has now been developed for use with sectional doors. The new element can also be retrofitted into existing sectional door frames or alternatively, can be housed in STL post sets made of weather resistant, anodised aluminium. One of a number of safety features and innovations pioneered by Hörmann, the Light Grille makes a significant contribution to the safe operation of high-speed doors. It exceeds the requirements of BS EN 13241-1 and virtually eliminates the risk of harm to pedestrians from fast action doors. The design incorporates LEDs and sensors into the door frame, taking away the risk of safety being compromised by impact damage. The solid state equipment uses an array of light beams to constantly monitor the door opening to a height of 2.5 metres and will simply stop the door if any are broken. This offers a number of safety benefits. There is no need for a rigid or battery powered safety edge and the door can operate quicker and react faster to any potential impact. With no moving parts, only limited maintenance is needed to ensure a long reliable service life. In addition to developing the Light Grille for sectional doors, the VL1 Leading edge safety device is now offered as a no cost option too.
