Although a CE mark means a product has met the minimum standard, it does not necessarily mean it is the best device on the market. Selecting a solution With this pressure on those in the supply chain to ensure doors and their locking mechanisms do not pose a threat to safety, it can be a challenge to select the right locking solution for doors. Electric locks are a safer and more compliant solution than door magnets for doors that are used as a fire escape. This is because magnetic systems often require special arrangements to guarantee they are fail-safe in the event of an emergency. In comparison, electric locks meet standards EN179 Emergency Escape for when the building occupants are aware of the building environment, and EN1125 Panic Escape for environments used by the general publi c.
