Nine user (and one master) codes are available, with four buttons used to create six-digit numbers to enable entry. Further up the range of code operated locks lies the Codelock 5000 series, which features several different products including the CL5010 Heavy Duty Electronic Tubular Mortice Latch. Ideal for busy buildings, it offers up to 80 user codes and on-door programming. The option of setting up one-time user codes makes it particularly suitable for large organisations such as hospitals and schools. The CL5010 also has two alarm release terminals – one allows the lock to be opened from a reception desk or answer phone while the other can be linked to an alarm system which, when activated by a momentary contact, will release the door for 30 minutes, allowing emergency personnel to enter a room. It’s also available as a back-to-back device, with independent keypads on two sides of a door meaning coded access in both directions. The CL5010 also has audit trail capability. The CL5010AT includes all the standard features of the CL5010 with the addition to easily control and monitor door access. This is ideal for recording the use of individual access codes. The accompanying software makes it easy for managers to program and analyse the use of multiple locks under their control. We’ve already touched upon the use of fingerprint identification and this biometric technology has now made its way into the world of door entry systems.
