Door Industry Journal - Spring 2016

spring 2016 THE door industry journal A big welcome to all of our readers and to our 64th issue, which this time extends to a very commendable 120 pages. Spring has certainly sprung and everyone’s thoughts are turning to coming out of hibernation, planning holidays, travel, a bit of DIY and other outside activities. With travel in mind, you could always take a trip to Germany and see the Teckentrup T30 all glass fire doors installed in Colditz Castle - see page 16 to find out more. Alternatively, if you are in the Garage and Industrial Doors business, a trip across the pond to the IDA Expo in Las Vegas at the end of April might blow away the last cobwebs of Winter! See the schedule of events on page 113. Turning to a bit of DIY, you may well have to do-it-yourself, because a survey by Ironmongery Direct has revealed that tradesmen were busier than ever during 2015 and are continuing to be as busy in 2016 – see page 10 for more. Following on from the DIY theme, if you have concerns over the environment and steadily rising fuel costs, you could learn about building your own house. The Hormann feature on page 84 highlights in detail how Nick Cvetkovic built his own low carbon, energy efficient house in Leicestershire. Finally, did you know that in addition to this magazine, which publishes three times a year, we also have a daily blog and a weekly newsletter which summarises the previous weeks’ blog postings in one easy to read email? You can sign up to receive our blog posts at www.doorindustryjournal.blogspot.com and subscribe to our weekly newsletter at this convenient short link http://eepurl.com/e4Yew or via the home page on our website www.doorindustryjournal.co.uk . I trust our latest issue will provide you with an interesting and informative read, so until our next issue in late July 2016, I wish you an enjoyable Spring.
