When Doorfix Ring-gard Ltd were made aware of the appeal via their local office manager Steve Olsen, they chose to offer their support by providing their shutter installation service completely free of charge. Furthermore, Steve and the team at Doorfix Ring-gard Ltd liaised with shutter manufacturer SWS UK who agreed to supply a free electric roller shutter from their SeceuroShield range. The registered charity, which was established in 1984 provides a vital service to women in the area who need support in areas such as mental health, postnatal and perinatal depression, anxiety and eating disorders. With premises based in Liverpool, the charity has been unfortunate in experiencing three consecutive incidents of deliberate vandalism, resulting in a smashed door and window. Having repaired the damage, WHISC realised that they wouldn’t be in a position to fund further repairs, should they continue to be the victims of mindless vandalism. With this in mind, their Fundraising Officer Kelly Teeboon made the decision to set up a Crowd Funding page, with the aim to raising enough money to finance the installation of an electric shutter. Steve Olsen said “when I learned of the Crowd Funding page and the reason it was set up, I was saddened to hear of the vandalism they had experienced. Their premises are just 5-6 miles away from our own, and I was aware of what a valuable resource the charity was to the women in our community. I was confident that Doorfix Ring-gard Ltd would be able to support this cause and was delighted that our supplier, SWS UK were also willing to provide their product free of charge. Despite the circumstances, it has been a privilege to assist WHISC and the wider community and we hope the newly installed shutter will provide them with enough peace of mind for them to carry on with the fantastic work they do.” The money raised on the Crowd Funding page, approximately £500 is being used to improve and support existing services within the charity. Caroline Willcocks, the Manager at WHISC said “we have been thrilled with the response we have received from our community since setting up our Crowd Funding page and were blown away by the generosity from Doorfix Ring-gard and SWS UK. Since our roller shutter has been installed we have had no problems with vandalism. It is a great feeling now when we lock up, not to worry about possible break-ins and damage.”
