Door Industry Journal is a trading style of Avalon Innovations LLP. Company No. OC364751 Derek Hibbart, Editor, Door Industry Journal welcome Welcome to the spring issue of the DIJ. Let’s start with some good news, as it looks like the construction industry is moving in a positive direction. Government data analysed by our friends at Ironmongery Direct shows a 3.3% increase in average weekly earnings and a decrease in vacancies compared to the previous year. Unemployment rates have also seen a slight decline, particularly among tradesmen. As we move through 2024, let’s hope this positive trend continues. For now, you have the latest issue of the DIJ to keep you busy! Here are just a few highlights of what’s inside: • Industry giant Hörmann is celebrating 45 years in the UK (p6) • Nick Perkins - Senior Training & Compliance Officer at the dhf – explains the importance of leaving systems in a safe condition (p28) • JDUK Door Systems has announced a new range of sectional doors, exclusive to the UK market (p44) • Fort Doors has revolutionised its deliveries with a new AI-powered tracking system (p52) • Expansion continues at roller door specialist Trojon with a new showroom and training space (p58) • Strong performance reported at SOMMER DOCO thanks to high sales of its flagship product ranges (p82) • Alucorb has launched a new brochure to showcase the best-selling HorizAL gate range (p90) • How to protect products against the hidden danger of ultraviolet rays (p102) • Addressing the security challenges faced by the social housing sector (p104) • Finish off with a bit of spring fun (p130) That lot should keep you going over Easter. So have a good read - and a chocolate egg or three! I’ll be back with you again in the summer.
