MD RICHARD WAROM RETIRES FROM HÖRMANN Not one, but two events were held early this year to mark the end of an era as Richard Warom retired as managing director of Hörmann (UK) Ltd. Richard joined Hörmann in 1989 as account sales manager, and in his 17 years as MD and over 24 years with the company, he has overseen the growth of Hörmann to its market leading position in both the domestic and industrial markets. An event for customers and friends was held at the Metropole Hotel, alongside the NEC at the time of the IMHX, while a leaving party with all the staff at the Coalville headquarters took place on 12 April. Christoph Hörmann attended both events to pay tribute to the achievements and friendships developed by Richard throughout his long and successful career with the company. In a planned transition, David Newcombe, previously Hörmann’s UK sales and marketing director, has taken over as managing director. On the subject of the changes David said: “Richard has certainly set a tough precedent but I’m looking forward to the challenge and to building upon his successes. It’s a great time for Hörmann at the minute and we’ve got a lot of plans on the horizon. I wish Richard a very well-earned and much deserved retirement!” Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk 15 THE door industry journal summer 2013 industry news WEBSITE REVAMP FOR HÖRMANN UK Hörmann (UK) Ltd has unveiled its new website following a revamp to align the design with that of its European website (www.hormann.de) and add consistency to the brands’ identity. The website developments, which demonstrate the company’s focus on interactivity and constant efforts to improve its offering to customers, boast a modern design with upgrades to both the look and usability of the site, making it easier to navigate and clearer for users. The biggest change to the website is the addition of a new feature. Hörmann’s customers can now go online to use the new Door Configurator to help envisage what their house will look like with Hörmann doors. Users simply upload an image of their house to the Door Configurator, select the style of doors that they are considering and an image of what the doors will look like in situ is generated. Aside from the Configurator, the new website has the same content and useful information about the company, its entire product range, the services that it offers and also breaking news as before, but in a new sleek and stylish format.
