As homeowners across the UK become more interested in the many benefits that smart technology can provide for them in their daily lives, the popularity of newer smart security systems is growing at an ever-increasing rate. However, as with all new developments, there are some questions raised concerning their reliability and level of security. With this in mind, it’s important to not only expand on the lifestyle benefits that products such as smart locks and other smart security products can provide to homeowners, but also highlight the rigorous testing and security standards that are built into every Yale product. At Yale, our foremost priority has always, and will always be, the security of our customers and end consumers. We have a long history of leading the home security market and are always looking for ways we can help the industry to develop and improve security standards in a constantly changing world and make customers feel safe. We’re committed to providing our expertise to promote and enhance standards across the industry in numerous ways, such as our presence on a number of industry boards, our participation with numerous security organisations and a huge focus on improving security standards. Our focus on developing standards led to the creation of the first UK standard specifically covering smart locks, TS621:2018, of which our Yale Conexis L1 Smart Lock became the first smart lock to meet this standard, setting it apart from its competition across the smart lock market. The standard, which was created by the Door and Hardware Federation, is now adopted by the British Standards Institute (BSI) as the recognised standard for smart locks in the United Kingdom, as well as achieving Kitemark status, further reinforcing the quality and security provided by Yale Conexis L1 Smart Lock. The Kitemark certification helps to further reinforce the high level of security that you achieve through using a Yale Conexis L1 Smart Lock. This, along with the standard for smart locks, helps consumers to easily identify and understand that they’re securing their homes with a safe, secure product that meets or exceeds all industry expectations. To achieve the standard, products must undergo rigorous testing including quality and durability tests as well as physical attack testing, along with electronic manipulation tests designed to ensure it is secure against advanced hacking methods. The Yale Conexis L1 Smart Lock; is designed as a ‘digital’ smart lock removing the need for a traditional metal key and replacing it with any one of a number of entry methods, including a key tag, card or smart phone. Whilst this lack of a keyhole will be new to a number of users, the feature enhances security by removing an avenue to entry via picking or snapping a lock cylinder; in addition, the TS621:2018 standard also requires the actuator contained inside the Yale Conexis L1 Smart Lock to be tested to the TS007 rating. The overall usability of the Yale Conexis L1 Smart Lock is identical to standard multi-point locks, with the same lift to lock Locks & Building Hardware
