Recently, the company was contacted by Belfast City Council with a project designed to enhance keepers’ safety at the elephant enclosure at Belfast Zoo. Working to the specifications required, their team of designers proposed Breezemount’s manufactured heavy duty underground system complete with heavy duty hydraulic locking bolts which would leave nothing for the animals to damage causing potential injury. The bespoke system allowed the elephants to retain full access to their enclosure and guaranteed that the area remained secure at all times. The Elephant Curator at Belfast Zoo commented on the project: “Breezemount provided our elephants with an automated gate system which increases our safety as elephant keepers. This bespoke gate system had to contend with various constraints posed by Asian Elephants, none of which were a problem to Breezemount. When the work began on-site the skilled engineers were extremely professional, hardworking and dedicated to completing the work during the programme. I would have no hesitation in recommending Breezemount as they provided an excellent bespoke gate design and installation service”. This two-way radio system uses the same encryption online banks rely on, to add greater security. There are a range of high quality hand transmitters including the multi-coloured HSE 2 options and the HS 5 with the status query function. This gives the option to check whether a gate or garage door is open or closed even if it is out of the line of sight. All Hörmann entrance gate operators are weather resistant and work safely during all opening and closing phases. As you would expect, the operating forces for common door sizes and fitting situations have been independently tested and certified by TÜV in Germany, in accordance with European standard, DIN EN 13241-1. Integral Soft-start and Soft-stop operation means that gates open smoothly and quietly, a feature that protects the gate and operator, adding to their longevity. As with Hörmann garage door operators, force limitation in the motor stops the gate if it encounters an obstacle. Additional non-contact photocells can also be fitted to add to the safe operation if required. For hinged gates the RotaMatic range offers a modern slimline design for gates up to four metres wide, two metres high and up to 400 kilograms in weight. Options with this operator include an electric lock, recommended for gates wider than 1.5 metres, and a sound absorbing door seal. If there is no direct mains supply the RotaMatic Akku is a battery powered alternative, which, with the addition of a solar module, can become entirely independent from mains electricity. For sliding gates the LineaMatic range of operators provide Hörmann quality and reliability for gates up to 10 metres wide, three metres high and up to 600 kilograms in weight. Supplied with a height adjustable housing the LineaMatic is both compact and highly reliable. Other gate operators from Hörmann include the robust DTH 700 hinged operator for weights up to one tonne, the underground DTU 250 for almost invisible operation and the STA 400 sliding gate operator. These three options all require a radio control unit to be ordered separately. As well as this domestic range of operators Hörmann also manufacture and supply a range of industrial gates and operators. www.hormann.co.uk
