Door Industry Journal - Winter 2014
13 THE door industry journal winter 2014 He said Teckentrup’s complete commitment to certification will be the catalyst behind their sales growth in the UK steel hinged doorset sector. “The company completely supports and is driven by the introduction of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) that was introduced on July 1, 2013 with regards to external doors and EN14351-1. We believe third party testing and declaration of performance not only delivers business benefit, but also raises standards across the industry. “It delivers a level playing field upon which specifiers of external doors can evaluate the quality and characteristics of products to ensure they will deliver the required performance. This is even more vital when the harmonized standard for fire resistance performance characteristics EN16034-1 comes into play during 2015. Teckentrup firmly believes fire resistant doors that offer integrity and insulation under fire conditions will become the specifiers’ best practice choice, bringing the UK market in-line with Europe. Teckentrup already has UK Certified doors with these characteristics as part of its range. “It is hugely important that installers of these types of product not only believe - but can prove that - they are fitting compliant product. Teckentrup products are exactly what they need, in terms of quality, consistency and conformity. “One of the reasons why membership of the Door & Hardware Federation is so important to us is that the federation has long been promoting the need for both performance declaration and certification to both specifiers and legislators.” The end of 2014 sees Teckentrup Depot in “fusion” – a process that sees the company formally becoming part of the Teckentrup family of companies under the name of Teckentrup UK Limited. As already stated earlier, the closer ties to Teckentrup GmbH open up the entire German product range that includes a complete portfolio of industrial and steel doors. Concluding, Jim Rodger, Managing Director said, “We’re proud of what we’ve achieved as Teckentrup Depot and are very excited about the new opportunities fusion brings. As I said earlier, our first job is the introduction of the innovative steel door product range to the UK market. As ever, the products offer German engineering excellence and we’ll be bringing our classic British know-how to service the UK market”.
