Mark updated “On 18th July 2013 the son of family friends “Charlie Craig” was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). To help raise awareness and also funds to assist the ongoing valuable research into blood cancer, the charity “Cycling for Charlie” was established. “Seeing the impact this has on families first hand especially when we had a son the same age really put things into perspective. The condition which can be very treatable due to the extensive research that has been conducted in recent years by these charities brings comfort and much needed hope to families whenever they encounter this devastating news. By taking part in the event and raising funds and awareness was just a small way in which we are able to show our support.” This was the charity’s 2nd cycle with over 25 people taking part. To date the cycling events plus other fund raising events has raised in excess of £40,000 for blood cancer charities in the UK.
