Door Industry Journal - Winter 2014

Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk industry news 17 THE door industry journal winter 2014 DHF Gala Dinner The Door and Hardware Federation held its first ever gala dinner back in October … and what a success it was! More than 200 members and guests got together at the prestigious Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire for an evening of socialising, networking … and (most importantly) having fun. Bob Perry, Executive Chairman of the DHF said: “With us no longer having a conference/networking session at the AGM, we thought it would be a great opportunity for members to get together”. The emphasis at the event was clearly focused on enjoyment. Members and guests were treated to a sumptuous meal and then after-dinner entertainment was provided by England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton OBE. Peter concentrated his speaking on his experiences and those of others during his time as a professional footballer. Following on from Peter and in total contrast, we experienced one of the most baffling mind readers and magicians, Graham Jolley. During the meal and afterwards, the beautiful and extremely talented Amy Fields provided the “wow” factor with her fabulous electronic violin playing. To take the event into the early hours, guests took to the dance floor with a well chosen music selection provided by Jon, the Carden Park Hotel resident DJ. The event received tremendous support from DHF members; the main sponsor was Robust UK with further sponsorship provided by ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, Hörmann UK, Booth Industries, Teckentrup and Allegion.
