Its 90 strong van fleet is being upgraded to new Ford Custom and Ford Connect vehicles fitted with the latest GPS tracking technology and professional parts storage systems designed to ensure maximum field service efficiency. Each van is fitted with a Masternaut vehicle tracking system, enabling total visibility of assets and vehicles within the fleet. The GPS and GPRS-enabled tracking technology captures information about the location, speed and distance of each vehicle. Gilgen’s national service planning and dispatch centre has real time access to this information through a dedicated web portal, so the nearest and best equipped engineer can be dispatched to each job. Reduced fuel, mileage and carbon emissions will help support Gilgen’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices. And the system will boost productivity and provide higher levels of customer satisfaction through faster, more effective response to service requests. The Gilgen service vans are also fitted with the Bott Uno parts storage system, designed to assist the engineers in achieving maximum efficiency and safety at work. Operations Director Chris Windust explains: “The Uno system helps us ensure our vans are well stocked with the right mix of parts for installations, service work and repairs. This investment will really help our engineers to become more organised and efficient. It also demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and to providing our customers with a first class, unrivalled service covering all of their door maintenance and repair needs”. The Uno system was selected following an extensive evaluation of alternatives on the market, proving the best fit to Gilgen’s requirements. The system is crash tested and can be reused at the end of the vehicles’ contract, thereby supporting Gilgen’s safety and environmental commitments. Improved continuity across the fleet also helps with stock control and parts re-ordering, leading to improved efficiency and reduced wastage. Fresh, impactful vehicle graphics provide the finishing touch to the van fleet, combining Gilgen’s renowned ‘yellow’ brand colour with vibrant automatic door and industrial door imagery. Gilgen is committed to providing unrivalled service for its customers nationwide and its new van fleet is bound to make a great first impression.
