Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk industrial doors 26 THE door industry journal winter 2014 Hertfordshire based company, Coletta Doors, has been awarded accreditation from Safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety. Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors. The company’s application for Safecontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business. Tony Coletta, a Director of Coletta Doors, said: “We are thrilled for having been recognised for the pride we take in safety at work”. Safecontractor accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal. John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place. “More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Coletta Doors Solutions has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. Safecontractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.” Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website. Client-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, enabling them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These clients agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those who have received accreditation. Over 210 major, nation-wide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work. Design and quality assurance of the shutters will be maintained in partnership with its sister-company, Aluroll, an organisation that has been listed in the famous Red Book – the definitive list of LPCB approved products and services - since 2009. The two firms will work in close partnership - manufacture will be undertaken by Steelroll whilst Aluroll will ensure product and quality compliance. The LPCB is part of BRE Global – the leading third-party approvals organisation that offers certification of products, services and systems. It works with insurers, government, police, designers, manufacturers, contractors and end users to develop methods by which product performance and reliability can be assessed. The LPCB has been operating for over 100 years and in that time its mark of approval has become an internationally recognised sign of trust. All the products approved by the LPCB have been subjected to a wide-ranging testing process to assess their resistance to deliberate attack. The LPCB also undertakes an ongoing approval process that ensures, through regular auditing, that approved products continue to comply with the relevant standards after they have been launched onto the market. Working with Aluroll, Steelroll has secured a Security Rating of Level 1 for its S76 perforated lath shutter, a Level 2 rating for the S76 solid lath shutter, a Level 3 rating for the I100 double-skin lath shutter, and a Level 4 rating for the I100 reinforced double-skin lath shutter. “We are delighted to have achieved LPCB approval for these products,” says Steelroll Manager Garry Peake. “It takes a lot of time and hard work to produce shutters that meet the requirements but it is very much worth it. The LPCB mark shows all our present and potential customers that we are manufacturing goods of the highest possible standards in terms of security.” TOP SAFETY ACCREDITATION FOR COLETTA DOOR SOLUTIONS LTD.
