winter 2014 THE door industry journal Our first ever DHF gala dinner took place in October … and what a success it was! More than 200 members and guests got together at the prestigious Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire for an evening of socialising, networking … and (most importantly) having fun. With us no longer having a conference/networking session at the AGM, we thought it would be a great opportunity for members to get together. With so much communication happening online, there are fewer opportunities for us to meet our colleagues face to face. I believe the rise in email is taking the personal touch away from how an organisation like the DHF interacts with its members and learns how it can meet their needs. The emphasis at the event was enjoyment. We were treated to a sumptuous meal and then after-dinner entertainment was provided by England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton OBE. Alongside Peter we experienced one of the most baffling mind readers and magicians, Graham Jolley. The beautiful and extremely talented Amy Fields provided the “wow” factor with her fabulous electronic violin playing. To take the event into the early hours, we took to the dance floor with a well chosen music selection provided by the Carden Park Hotel resident DJ, Jon from www.cheshiredjs.co.uk .
