Easy to install and quick to configure, the system can be used with Hörmann’s core range of garage and entrance door operators, requiring only a connection to a router and one-off registration. Using a two-way radio system that has been developed with cryptology experts at the Ruhr University in Germany, the BiSecur Gateway offers the same levels of security as online banking. The system provides such advanced protection from digital break-ins that it would take a supercomputer tens of thousands of years to crack the radio signal. Offering peace of mind to homeowners, the app can be used to instantly check whether a door is open or closed, and operate it with the push of a button. Up to 10 users can be added to the app with different levels of authorisation, allowing the customer to choose who can operate each opening. To save time, a scenario function also enables a customer to set a series of actions to be carried out in sequence, with one touch. This could include a ‘coming home’ setting, where the entrance gate is opened, followed by the garage door. Alan Jenkins, commercial director at Hörmann, commented: “Our BiSecur handsets already allow customers to monitor their garage doors from the comfort of their sofa, but we wanted to take that a step further. We’ve all been in the situation where you can’t remember if you’ve locked the garage or front door, but with the new BiSecur app you can check, wherever you are.” For garages with automated internal or external illumination, the BiSecur app can also be used to check the status of lights and turn them on or off. HÖRMANN LAUNCHES NEW TRADITIONAL SWING DOOR RANGE Hörmann has added a modern twist to a classic garage door style, with the launch of a new range of double-leaf swing doors. The new hinged door collection combines a classic design with the very best in modern door technology, using the same high-quality panels as Hörmann’s class-leading sectional doors. 42mm-thick double skinned panels feature CFC-free rigid polyurethane foam sandwiched between steel surfaces. This not only provides excellent insulation but also adds to the strength and stability of the doors. Hörmann’s full range of finishes, including the new textured Sandgrain, can be selected with these hinged models. With the Micrograin, Silkgrain and Woodgrain finishes, Hörmann offers a RAL-to-choose option in addition to 15 preferred shades, making colour choice almost unlimited. Winchester Oak has been added to the Decograin palette, alongside Golden Oak, Dark Oak, Night Oak, Rosewood and Titan Metallic CH703. A side door with multi-point locking is also available in the same style, perfect for achieving uniformity of appearance with both its swing door counterpart and Hörmann’s sectional garage door. 42 THE door industry journal winter 2014 garage doors “LIFE SPRINGS ETERNAL” FOR ALUTECH’S SECTIONAL DOOR We are constantly being told about the benefits of having a healthy inner-core and the positive effect it can have on the rest of our working body. Alutech have extended this philosophy to an essential part of their torsion door, the Spring! Not only do they coat the external surface of the spring to protect against corrosion like most manufacturers, they also lacquer the internal surface for the same reason unlike most others, thus helping to prolong the life span of the spring to anything up to 100,000 cycles or 68 years based on 4 open / close cycles per day.
