Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk fire & security 89 THE door industry journal winter 2015 New harmonisation date and coexistence period for EN 16034 EN 16034:2014 Pedestrian doorsets, industrial, commercial, garage doors and openable windows - Product standard, performance characteristics - Fire resistance and/or smoke control characteristics Following the news in October that there would be a delay in the implementation of voluntary CE marking to EN 16034, it has now been announced by the European Commission that: • the date of harmonisation will be 1/9/2016 • the end of the coexistence period will be 1/9/2019 This means that fire resisting doorsets as defined in and covered by the standard that are placed on the market after 1st September 2016 can be voluntarily CE marked and that the period of coexistence with EN 16034 for fire resisting doorsets that are not voluntarily CE marked will be 3 years until 31st August 2019. Doorsets placed on the market after this date must be CE marked in compliance with the standard.
