Also online at: www.dijonline.co.uk 64 THE door industry journal winter 2021 Domestic Garage Doors Perfect Match for Doorfit and Garador Leading garage door supplier Doorfit has been working with Britain’s top garage door manufacturer Garador since 1961, 60 years ago this year. “Over the years there have been huge technical advances in every aspect of a garage door,” said Doorfit’s Managing Director David Close. “Materials and design, opening devices, security and insulation…in recent years especially everything has changed enormously, and this includes colour.” Today, David says sourcing the right colours is a top requirement and matching the colour customers want is more important than ever before. “Our coloured door sales have grown steadily over recent years,” he said. “When I started at Doorfit some 30 years ago, primed ready for painting or fully finished white were the only option for garage doors. Today, almost a quarter of all doors we sell are from the coloured door range. At its current trajectory, I would expect one in three doors to be a coloured door within the next couple of years.” Doorfit supplies a wide range of doors across most of the UK for individual customers, garage door specialists, developers and home improvement companies who now all like the wide colour choices available. But David says one more recent change is the demand for special colours from local authorities. Doorfit’s work with local authorities involves large numbers - they have provided 1,000 doors for a regeneration project Wolverhampton Council and 2,000 doors for a similar contract with Dudley Council. In each case, the colours required for the garage doors were in specific shades to match the authorities’ branding and image.
