Not only does this system make the transmitters more secure but also means that the signal is more reliable while extending operating distances. The BiSecur radio system is now standard on SupraMatic, ProMatic, LineaMatic and RotaMatic operators, which are supplied with the latest transmitters. These new handsets are backwards compatible so can be used with all Hörmann operators produced since 2005. This means for instance, that a new transmitter can control both a new gate operator and an existing garage door operator. The new application will be available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices later this year. The 501 Professional Garage Door Opener series from Bernal, with Bidirectional radio system and optional programming display are all Homewave compatible. The G 501-DHW-1200 is the top-of-the-range model and comes as standard with an integral Homewave-Control-Box and display. Bidirectional handsets incorporate an open/close door monitor as standard and 4 buttons. All models can be enhanced with an external programming display that allows for easy step by step programming. The optional and integral Homewave control system allows connection by radio, Bluetooth, wireless LAN and smartphone (Apple, Android, and Windows). Installers also have the facility to access full service history and to make remote adjustments. Homewave, unlike other systems, is designed around open architecture therefore Homewave compatible apps from a range of sources can be obtained on the Internet for downloading to a smart phone, tablet or home computer. Where Homewave compatible apps are provided free by third parties the functionality offered is likely to be subscription free. Any additional costs for greater functionality would be as controlled by the developer of the app. A benefit of the Homewave system is that it does not require any additional modules for open door monitoring etc. Also, if a wireless connection does not extend to the garage and the owner does not want to add a booster, then the Homewave box can be placed within range of the router (away from the opener) and connected by radio or Bluetooth to the garage door opener, saving cabling costs. Answer: Google Glass Google Glass, a wearable computer headset, styled like a pair of glasses, may well eventually be able to control your garage door, fridge and other household appliances. SFgate.com recently reported: “Google recently applied for a patent that would enable a wearable computer with a head-mounted display to control physical objects like refrigerators, espresso machines, and garage doors. “The patent describes how with the help of sensors, RFID, Bluetooth, and QR codes, the wearable computer could detect everyday objects and project an augmented reality user interface onto them”. “In response to identifying the garage door and determining that it is in a closed state, the wearable computing device may display a virtual control interface that is superimposed over the garage door, ” the patent states. “The patent highlights a few different possibilities for interacting with the virtual control interface, such as head motions, hand gestures, and voice commands”. Take a look below to see how Google envisions these interfaces.
