Previously derelict docklands, London’s Canary Wharf is now 15 million square feet of prime office, retail and leisure space, ever expanding thanks to property development, investment and management company, Canary Wharf Group PLC. ASSA ABLOY Security Doors has designed, manufactured and installed the steel doors for the 23-storey office building at 25 Churchill Place. The heavy-duty ASSA ABLOY Security Doors’ fire-rated, acoustic and blast-rated doors, with electrohydraulic door operators account for the heavy traffic expected in the prime London office space. Adhering to fire safety requirements vital for commercial environments, roller-shutter doors were also installed to provide additional security out of business hours. The group solution from ASSA ABLOY also included bespoke steel doors with a flush astragal profile on all main access routes. Less vulnerable to attack, the flush astragal profile on ASSA ABLOY Security Doors helps with building efficiency and safety, by restricting the passage of heat and smoke between building areas. Chris Cole, Area Sales Manager for ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “It has been great to work on such a prestigious site as Canary Wharf, and to tackle the complex issues that a building on that scale can produce. Every specification had to be made with fire safety and building efficiency in mind, and on such a large-scale, this was no mean feat. Tailored ASSA ABLOY Security Doors ensure that the product will suit what will be an extremely high-traffic office space. Plus, the flush astragal featuring on many of the doorsets demonstrates how the in-house design team ASSA ABLOY Security Doors can help specifiers and architects work effectively with our high security steel doors, and shows how comprehensive the range really is.” Designed to withstand abuse from simple hand tools through to prolonged attacks with a range of power tools, ASSA ABLOY Security Doors are tested in accordance with the standards of LPS1175, and fire doors to BS 476 Part 22 and EN 1634-1: 2000. ASSA ABLOY Security Doors manufactures and installs steel and timber doors in a range of performance options, including security, fire resistant, vandal resistant, acoustic and external. NEW THERMOPRO PLUS - EVEN BETTER INSULATION The new ThermoPro Plus entrance doors from Hörmann offer even better insulation values while maintaining the high levels of security, ease of use and quality for which the ThermoPro range is renowned. Featuring a 65mm thick steel door leaf mounted on a composite frame, these frames add to the insulation value as they offer a better thermal break. The thicker door is filled with rigid CFC free PU foam for both strength and insulation. Not only does the door leaf contribute to enhanced insulation but the 80mm aluminium door frame also has PU foam infill and a thermal break. Triple seals on the threshold strip and another thermal break all help to maximise insulation to give a fitted door with a thermal u value as low as 1.0W/m 2 K. These doors are also highly secure thanks to multi- point locking. Conical swing bolts, security bolts and a lock bolt pull the door tightly shut. Three further security bolts on the hinge side, in conjunction with the three standard hinges, make it practically impossible to force the door open. Glazing panels add to the styling options and are available as either double or triple glazed units. All feature laminated security glass on the exterior and safety glass on the interior. Matching side elements and transom lights give more styling and choice to create an impressive entrance.
