The new transmitter allows for 2 separate safety edges to now be connected simultaneously; giving the installer the flexibility of switching both opening and closing safety inputs on the automatic gate control panel via the 2 channel receiver unit. The new transmitter also allows the installer to select between input methods when first inserting batteries allowing Normally Open (NO) inputs, Normally Closed (NC) input, as well as an 8K2 Ohm input - which should be used to comply with current safety standards. Derek Foreman of IN2 Access said: “This new product development should cut costs and installation time as well as reducing the number of transmitters required per installation”. Not with the Bircher Proloop2 Inductive loop controller with fault diagnosis and memory storage for the last 5 faults, it will give you clear indication where to look to try and identify where your intermittent fault is hiding. Poor connection, short circuit loops, under or over voltage, loops to large or small all could cause intermittent issues. Inductive Loop technology has not changed much over the years. Generally the controller does all the work but is not the most important part of the system. The wire loop that is fitted in the ground is the critical part of the system and if it is not installed correctly it will cause issues at some time that cannot be predicted, but when particular conditions prevail the loop can fail. Bircher have developed the Proloop2 which gives you every opportunity to ensure when you fit your loop, you can check all the conditions for yourself, simply and easily to be sure the loop will work to its optimum. When you are installing a new loop or fitting a new controller to an existing wire loop already in the ground, The Proloop2 can display the inductance on the LCD display ensuring the optimum µH reading. Older wire loops that have been installed in the ground for some time can be checked in the same way. The unit should highlight any potential issues which may cause future problems at your quoting stage allowing you to price for this accordingly. Wire loops have a high risk of failure when the insulation starts to break down on the cable sheathing. When experiencing long periods of dry climatic conditions followed by rain, water seeps into the ground causing a large change in ground earth leakage which can cause Loop controllers to fail. The Proloop2 supplies galvanic isolation between the wire loop and the controller which removes the possibility of this problem. Once you have the loop in the ground, modern loop controllers like the ‘ProLoop2’ have the advantage of allowing the installer to alter the programming to increase or decrease sensitivity of the loop circuit, tailoring it to your installation environment. Sometimes however, this is not enough. Vehicles come in all shapes and sizes from motorbikes to Lorries and can cause many issues. The ProLoop2 overcomes these issues with its “Automatic Sensitivity Boost” feature which alters the unit’s switching hysteresis which in simple terms, lowers the switch off point of the unit, overcoming issues with barriers coming down on trailers or similar. The 2-loop version of the pro-loop2 allows the installer to program directional logic for making an installation entry/exit only. This can easily be achieved by programming the unit itself rather than complicated logic programming of PLC’s. For loops mounted directly on top of each other (Typically palletising applications in warehousing) The ‘ProLoop2’ allows the installer to alter the frequency of the loop circuit to prevent any cross talk, which is an essential function. There are many more features built into the ProLoop2 range of loop detectors which the IN2 team are happy to demonstrate on site or at our training facility in Oswestry.
