Jewers Doors Completes Major Project at British Airways Fleet Support Unit, Heathrow Jewers Doors is proud to announce the successful completion of a major installation project at British Airways’ Fleet Support Unit (FSU) at Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world. The project saw the supply and installation of two sets of Esavian 126-SBR power-operated hangar doors, each configured with 10 equal leaves; 10 on the north side and 10 on the south side of the hangar. Each leaf of the new doors is 9 metres wide, 89 metres high, and weighs approximately 17.5 tonnes. The bespoke design and precise engineering required to accommodate such large dimensions is a testament to Jewers Doors’ commitment to innovation and quality. The removal of the existing hangar doors and installation of the new systems posed a significant challenge due to the operational constraints of the busy Heathrow Airport, but the Jewers team managed the project efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations. For this, a big thank you is extended to both the British Airways Engineering and Property teams, for their cooperation, accommodation and assistance. This successful installation reinforces Jewers Doors’ position as a leading provider of specialist industrial and aircraft hangar doors, trusted by major aviation and industrial clients worldwide.
