Despite the recruitment challenges that are being felt up and down the country, SWS UK has been successful in seeking out real talent with its newest recruits. Most recently, they have made investments in its warehouse and production areas following the recruitment of three new Team Managers, including Paul Johnson who recently accepted the role of Warehouse Manager. The three newest Team Managers have a combined experience of 90 years in production and warehouse management. They make up SWS UK’s team of 7 Production Managers, overseen by the Production Manager Mick Speight, who has been with the business for 17 years. Mick says: “SWS UK has a really strong team of Production Managers. As well as focusing on the efficiency of their own department, we are all united in supporting one another to roll out consistent practices. Ultimately these practices will improve output, but they also ensure we don’t fall short on quality, safety, or waste management.” Meet SWS UK’s Latest Production Managers Barrie Stimpson (Shutters Team Manager): Barrie’s background is in the graphic printing industry. He began his career 30 years ago as a Process Operator before working his way up to his last position of Production Manager. He has extensive experience in implementing ‘Lean Projects’ and has been educated at the Manufacturing Institute in Manchester, where he completed a diploma in the Accelerated Route to Lean Manufacturing. “I joined SWS UK in October of last year and have thrown myself into the role of Shutters Team Manager. I’ve worked with my team to improve the housekeeping which has had a positive effect on my department’s efficiency. My experience is well suited to the role and I’m looking forward to working with Mick and the other Team Managers to enhance and streamline SWS UK’s production processes.” Paul Johnson (Warehouse Manager): Paul joins SWS UK with almost 30 years’ experience in warehouse management across several industries including IT distribution and retail. Most recently, he has been Operations Manager at the UK distribution centre for Coffee Division, a large drinks company based in Poland. “Despite only being with SWS for a few months, it’s obvious that the business has a real drive to move forwards and grow. I find this really exciting and it’s an environment where I can see myself thrive. Right from my very first interview, I was made to feel welcome. It’s a great place to work. I’ll be using my knowledge and experience to restructure the warehouse operation so that it offers the best possible service and support to the production areas, thus enabling the business to meet its targets and the demands of the customer. We are already in the process of analysing our stock profile as part of a major restructure / refurbishment of the Lancaster warehouse operation and I’m certain that the benefits will be felt throughout the business.” John Desborough (SeceuroGlide Team Manager): SWS UK’s latest Team Manager is John. John also has 30 years of experience in his previous field of the chemical industry. Specialising in the recycling, distillation and processing of organic solvents, John’s previous role was with one of the largest chemical recycling companies in the UK. “I began my career as Process and Plant Operative, but for the last 20 years, I have worked in a managerial role as Plant, Production and Site Manager. I have gained valuable skills and experience in managing people and processes for an efficient plant. While I haven’t been with SWS UK for long, I’m extremely impressed with its employees, technologies and processes. I’ll be using my engineering background plus my knowledge in health and safety, quality, and environmental practices to support my colleagues in making further improvements whilst moving SWS UK forwards.” www.sws.co.uk
